Garlic town

Once upon a time, a little town experienced the death of one of their own. A young lady was found deceased in her house in the early hours of the night. She appeared to have been murdered.

The town had never seen such brutality in their whole history since its inhabitants had been known for their kindness and friendliness. Everyone was surprised by such a barbarous event to have taken place.

When the mayor heard what happened, he became profoundly restless. The town elections were about to take place and a police investigation into a murder would raise uncomfortable questions to many of his voters. He was afraid of losing his post amid false accusations: All the town residents would become suspects and would have to be investigated. On the other hand, if he ignored what happened, he would be blamed for not doing enough to protect the safety of his constituents.

What could he do?

He had an idea! He could turn this incident into an opportunity for his re-election. If there was a way to blame the murder on an outsider, while at the same time, being seen as doing something to prevent this outsider from striking again, he would have achieved the perfect scenario to be re-elected again.
